W08: Hoarding - A Harm Reduction Approach
Hoarding is a complex and challenging psychological disorder that may lead to negative consequences for both the individual and the community. Given the necessity of physical distancing, it will become even more critical that housing providers find ways to support tenants who may be socially isolated. This session provides information about using harm reduction principles to help tenants with hoarding behaviour. The first part of this discussion will include harm reduction strategies, using assessment tools, and accessing helpful hoarding resources. The second part will include pest-control issues and prevention, the clutter removal process, and the post-clean-out care process.
